LAKE TAHOE IS THE ULTIMATE WINTER DESTINATION

The winter season wrapping up around Lake Tahoe but spring skiing is something to look forward to. We have 15 world-class ski resorts around the lake. The most popular ones for people staying on the south shore of Lake Tahoe are Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort. Heavenly is the largest ski resort on the west coast of America. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, visitors can enjoy snowmobiling, ice skating, sledding, sleigh rides, and general snow play for the whole family. The winter season starts in November and normally goes through April. We normally receive over 400” (10 m) of snow during the winter season and the average temperature is 40°F (10°C). Driving in winter should not be a concern as the roads are cleared very quickly after each snowstorm.

The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority has restructured to position itself to better support its sales and marketing functions with a changing landscape within the destination.Tony Lyle has been promoted to Chief Marketing Officer and will oversee the management of our agencies including brand development and strategy, plus media planning and buying.Juraj Sojka has been hired as the Director of Leisure Sales and will lead our domestic and international travel trade outreach and liaison.
